How much does a street interview campaign cost?
By the Street Interviews team · 9 November 2026 · 5 min read

Ask a production company what a street interview costs and the honest answer begins with "it depends". That is no help when you have a budget to sign off, so here is what it depends on. The street interview cost for a brand comes down to five things: how many videos you need, how many shoot days that takes, where you film, how much editing each video gets, and where the finished videos are posted.
Street Interviews has made campaigns for Deel, Badoo, Heineken and Radisson Hotels, and runs its own channels, which have passed 10B+ views. The team is based in Manchester and London. This guide sets out where the money goes on a street interview campaign, so you can brief with a realistic number in mind and compare quotes fairly.
How much does a street interview cost?
There is no fixed street interview cost, because no two briefs ask for the same thing. One video filmed in an afternoon is a very different job from a 14-video series shot across several days. The fairest way to compare quotes is the cost per finished video, with the number of edits, platforms, changes and usage rights written down next to it. A cheap day rate that produces one usable video is poor value. A higher day rate that produces eight is not.
Why does the number of videos matter most?
Most of the money in a street interview sits in the shoot day: the crew, the kit, the presenter, travel, and the hours it takes to find people who will stop and talk. Once that day is paid for, every extra question asked on the street produces more material at very little extra cost. Planning a shoot to deliver several videos is the single biggest saving a brand can make.
That is why the strongest campaigns tend to be series rather than one-offs. Deel's quiz and interview series ran to 14 videos and passed 40M+ views. Badoo came back for a second round and ended up with 80+ videos. A series also gives the platforms more chances to find the video that takes off, which is hard to predict from a single upload. You can see how the Deel series came together in the Deel case study.
What is included in a street interview shoot day?
A typical shoot day covers a camera operator, a presenter or interviewer, sound, branded or plain microphones, and a producer who looks after locations and the people who take part. Everyone who appears on camera should sign a release before the footage is used. A day spent in one city usually produces enough answers for several short videos, provided the questions have been agreed in advance. If they have not, the day costs the same and delivers less, which is why a clear brief saves money. Our guide on how to brief a street interview campaign covers what to agree before the crew goes out.
Does the location change the price?
Yes. Filming close to where the crew is based costs less than flying a team out, because travel and accommodation are added to the bill. Street Interviews films in Manchester and London most weeks, and films anywhere in the world when a brief needs it, as it did for Wix Studio in New York. Busy public streets suit most short vox pops. Private sites such as shopping centres, stadiums and stations may need permission from the owner, and that can bring a fee or an earlier start.
How much does editing add to the cost?
A raw answer on a memory card is not a finished video. Editing is where the best answers are chosen and the pace is set, and it usually covers captions, brand graphics, licensed music and a version for each platform. When comparing quotes, check how many rounds of changes are included, whether captions and graphics are part of the price, and whether you will get separate cuts for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and paid ads. Those extras are where two quotes that look the same often turn out not to be.
Should the videos go on your channels or an existing audience?
This is the question many buyers miss. A video posted only to a brand's own account starts with that account's audience, which may be small. Street Interviews also runs its own channels, including Street Interviews, Viral Interviews and PlaysUP, with 2.5M+ followers between them. Radisson Hotels' giveaway, for example, ran as a TikTok and Instagram collaboration on those pages. Posting to an audience that already watches the format is a distribution cost rather than a production one, so it should be priced as a separate line. It can also do more for reach than any extra spend on the shoot.
What about usage rights and paid ads?
If you plan to put money behind the videos as ads, say so in the brief. How long the brand can use the footage, whether it can run as paid media, and in which countries all affect the price. The release forms signed on the day need to cover the same uses. Telling your producer this at the start costs far less than going back to contributors later. Our brand content team can set this out line by line in a quote.
How can you get more from a street interview budget?
Film in batches, so one shoot day feeds several videos. Pick a format that can repeat, such as a quiz or a single recurring question, so each episode builds on the last. Decide your platforms before filming, so the crew frames shots that work for each one. Keep sign-off to one or two people, because rounds of changes cost time. And decide early how you will judge success, which we cover in how to measure a street interview campaign.
The short version
The price of a street interview campaign follows the number of finished videos, the shoot days needed to make them, the location, the editing and the usage rights. Compare quotes on cost per finished video, plan a series rather than a one-off, and think about where the videos will be seen before you think about how they will be made.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a street interview video cost in the UK?
It depends on the number of videos, the shoot days, the location, the editing and the usage rights. The cost per video falls sharply when several videos are filmed on the same day, so a series is usually better value than a single video. Street Interviews quotes per brief.
How many videos can you film in one day?
A well-planned day in one city usually gives enough material for several short videos. The exact number depends on the format, the number of questions and how busy the location is.
Is it cheaper to film street interviews in-house?
It can look cheaper on paper, but the costs move elsewhere: staff time, kit, release forms, editing and the time spent finding people who will talk on camera. An in-house video also starts with only the brand's own audience.
What should a street interview quote include?
The number of finished videos, shoot days and locations, editing with captions and graphics, versions for each platform, rounds of changes, usage rights, and any posting on established channels.
